Quick Sketch

My first week back in Phoenix. I was at BJ's restaurant with my friends waiting for our lunch to be served. I was facing the window when this guy walked by. He was wearing super tight shirt and jeans. Two things caught my attention... the shirt and the waist.

I’m imitating Ramon Zamora the Bruce Lee of the Philippines. I’m in my own world during those times. I used to watch lot’s of Kung Fu movies specially Jackie Chan’s early movies that were produced in Hong Kong. I bought myself plastic chucks so that if I accidentally hit myself it’s not going to hurt. I’ll be visiting my family in the Philippines for a month. I’m sure the trip will bring back lots of childhood memories.

What's really cool is that he speaks fluent tagalog and is very proud of being a Filipino.

Darna is a very famous fictional character in the Philippines. Created by Mars Ravelo back in the 50's. She is truly an icon. Over the years Darna has appeared in about 14 or more films portrayed by prominent actresses of Philippine movies.

Shokoy

I posted this on ArtJumble. It’s my first time to use pen tablet to render a character. I only use it to render backgrounds. I struggled at first because the one I used is so small, I think it’s
3”x 4”. I got the hang of it later on. In the Philippines we call this creature “Shokoy”. Usually it’s half man (body) half fish (head). But, this one is a little different.

Thought of posting it black and white but decided to color it. Then, I tried to put some textures. Pirates Of Darkwater

Ioz and Niddler are two of the main characters of Pirates of Darkwater. I did this TV series back in the 90's while working for Hanna Barbera in the Philippines. This was the show assigned to us 9th batch trainees at Fil Cartoons. It's a tough show especially when you are just entering into the world of animation. The character design with all those details will kill you especially when you are in a quota system. Later on we understood why our trainors gave the show to us. It improved our skills and boosted our confidence. So, thanks Angie, Ochie and Nary!

Uhh...NO! Green is not my favorite color. I think I did 4 different versions of this one. I played with photoshop and messed around with brush and styles just to have a background. Turned out nice.

I made this t shirt design for our church's family camp. CLIMB -Christian Living In Might and Boldness. The climber represents christians, the rope (not so visible) represents God, rock represents obstacles in life and the graphics at the bottom left represents hell. I was so inspired while doing this one.

My first post

So, I have to post something to get this thing started. I went through my files and found this illustration I did about 7 years ago. I adjusted the saturation to kinda match the backgrounds. It brought back memories. I remember drawing this in my cube at Fox Animation Studios while inbetween projects. I missed the free snacks and the Kenny Rogers chicken every Saturdays. Not the pizza though.
